Sometimes, you just need a taco. Our nearest Taco Bell is 20 minutes away without traffic. Because it’s tourist season, during rush hour, it could take twice as long.
The convenience store where my son works sells taquitos, which will work in a pinch. My husband sometimes buys a four-pack from the cold case, so I can have two that day and two for a later time. Buying in bulk is cheaper, so there’s that.
While my taco tastes lean towards mild-to-medium heat, my husband, a retired firefighter, prefers hot sauce with enough spice to blister his tongue. I recently created this poem with his many packets of Taco Bell Diablo Sauce.
Bad influence.
Tattoos or it didn’t happen.
Double dare you.
Let’s show ‘em.
Oh, the anticipation.
Problem solved.
Spoiler alert.
And…done.
Sorry, Mom.
When we go out for Mexican food, my husband’s orders vary. I want the equivalent of a steak soft taco supreme, no lettuce. If we’re making them at home, I’ll throw in refried beans, salsa, extra cheese, extra sour cream, and some tortilla chips I can dip into the taco until I’ve eaten enough to properly fold and eat it. Regardless of where or how I’m eating my tacos, please hold the guacamole.
Choosing what to wash my tacos down with is easy. If we’re at Taco Bell, it’s Baja Blast Zero Sugar. But if we’re anywhere else, I’m having coffee.
Do you love tacos as much as I do? Do you prefer soft or hard shells? What do you like in your tacos? Tell me all about it in the comments (or a reply, if you’re reading this in your email inbox.). I’ll reply soon. First, I need to run out for tacos and coffee.
Results of the Poll and an Update
So, a few weeks ago, I asked if you’d like content on Mondays and Thursdays, just Thursdays, etc. A lot of you reached out, and while the results were fairly even, enough of you sent the message that less is more. Your inboxes are overflowing.
As someone who unsubscribes from things daily, I get it. There’s nothing more annoying than checking out a pair of shoes I saw in a Facebook ad and learning I was added to the company’s mailing list without my knowledge or permission. Grr.
An author friend and I were discussing what to do when we have more content than space in a newsletter. During this discussion, I saw the perfect solution that had been right there all along. All of that extra content will go in my Facebook group, Books & Coffee with Becky Muth & R. A. Muth.
If you’re looking for bonus content like exclusive excerpts, sneak peeks of upcoming books (including ones I’m writing that haven’t been announced anywhere else), and similar content, click the button below and join the group!

Hey
I love tacos, both hard and soft 😁 and fillings depend on my mood 🤔but lots of meat and cheese are a must 😉
Also, I don't have Facebook and have no intentions of establishing an account 🥴 so does that mean I'll miss out on all the extras 😭
What a shame 🥺
Anyway, all the best and I'll just have to be happy with whatever comes in the emails I guess .... It's better than nothing right 😁🩵😉
Have a great day 🌞
❤️🤍💙
