How My Real Hero Inspires Fictional Ones

Today is extra special—and not just because Finding Love at the County Fair is finally out in the world. (Though, let’s be real, I am buzzing with excitement about that!)
Today also happens to be my husband’s birthday.
We met through a mutual friend, and I still remember telling my roommate the day I met him, “If I don’t marry this guy, I’m never getting married.” Fast forward four years, and we had rings on our fingers and two kids under the age of two.
He’s funny, thoughtful, a fantastic cook, and the kind of person who’d go out of his way to help anyone—even if it meant putting his own needs last. He’s also the guy who makes my coffee every morning and lets me sleep in while he hangs out with the dogs. (Hero status unlocked.)
We’re total opposites—he loves summer, I’m counting the days to fall; he’s an early bird, I’m basically nocturnal—but we balance each other. And more than anything, he’s always been my steady place to land when life has me spiraling out of control.
Every romance hero I’ve ever written carries something inspired by him—whether it’s his sense of humor, his quiet strength, or the way he always seems to know when I need a hug or a sarcastic comment.
Today, I’m thrilled to share a new collection of romance stories with you, but I’m also celebrating the real-life love story that inspires everything I write.
