Inspired by those who run headfirst into danger
And the series inspired by actual first responder heroes
Thanks for being here, book bestie. You could’ve picked anywhere to spend your reading time, but I’m honored you landed in my cozy world of magical mischief and murderous mayhem.
As R. A. Muth, I write cozy mysteries packed with quirky sleuths, mystical pets, and small-town secrets. As Becky Muth, I trade alibis for heart eyes in sweet romance. No matter the genre, I promise: the only thing steamy in here is the coffee. ☕

September 11th is always a day that gives me pause. My husband was on duty that day, though not at the Pentagon, and now our son (who was a toddler on The Day the World Stopped Turning) is on the job as a first responder. In our family, we don’t take first responders for granted. Not for a minute.
Our kitchen is my husband’s domain, and it’s outfitted with firefighter decor, including helmets, turnout coats, a patch board, a challenge coin display case, and more—including the bear sculpture above. The number 343 on the helmet is the number of members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, while responding to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.
After the attacks, my husband devoured every documentary he could find. He wanted to learn everything possible. Because we are total opposites, I worked out my feelings through fiction. To be honest, I still do.
Whether you were glued to the news on September 11, 2001, or it was before your time, be sure to thank a first responder today. They’re the ones running toward danger while the rest of us run for safety.
The Guardians of the Heart Series
If you're looking for stories that honor quiet courage, steady hearts, and the people who run toward danger when others run away, I invite you to check out my Guardians of the Heart romantic suspense series.
These stories were written with deep love and respect for the real-life heroes who inspire them—my husband, my son, and every first responder who shows up when it matters most.
In Protecting Peyton, a search and rescue handler teams up with a police officer to find her missing brother. It’s available now.
In Healing Hawk, a model-turned-firefighter must rely on a cop’s help to stop a dangerous arsonist before she becomes the next victim. It releases on November 15th.
Think of these books as cozy mysteries without the talking cats—but with loyal golden retrievers, high stakes, and first responder heroes who don’t back down.
