The Ghost of Valentine's Past
And a special book deal from my friend Molly Fitz
Thanks for being here, book bestie. You could’ve picked anywhere to spend your reading time, but I’m honored you landed in my sweet and cozy world. No matter what genre I write, the only thing steamy you’ll find in here is the coffee.
Last autumn, my husband and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. Some Valentine’s gifts stand out more than others. On our first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife, for example, he got me a lovely, floor-length, bright pink flannel nightgown. I am pretty sure my mother-in-law chose it.
As the years have gone on, I no longer want gifts of cards, flowers, and chocolates. I want something that you can’t put a price tag on, because there’s no dollar amount high enough to describe its value. I want his time.
I’m not talking about sitting in the office watching another episode of Castle, Dateline, The Lincoln Lawyer, or one of the other shows we’re currently binging. Those things are fun, but I want to spend time doing the things we rarely get to do. Things without the kids and dogs.
Ice cream at the beach. Eating tacos picnic-style in the car. Strolling through the book sale corner of the local library. Those are the things that I find romantic. I’m blessed that he feels the same way. I’m not sure where our 2026 Valentine’s plans will lead, or even on which day we’ll celebrate, but we’ll be together, and that’s the best gift.
How are you spending Valentine’s Day this year? Reply or comment to let me know!

Cat vs Ghost - Who Will Win?
My magical cat picked a fight with a ghost, and now I’m stuck cleaning up the mess.
It was hard enough serving as my witchy cat’s familiar when the threats were visible. Now Merlin the Magical Fluff has made an enemy of a newly dispatched spirit, and I’m caught in the middle of a ghost-hunting feud.
I used to worry about finishing my thesis and keeping my part-time barista job. But ever since my talking cat forced me into a magical bond, life has been full of supernatural chaos, spells gone sideways, and now... one very bitter ghost.
This is book two in the Merlin’s Magical Mysteries series, where a snarky magical cat, a reluctant familiar, and a coffee shop full of secrets team up to solve the un-deadliest of crimes.
If you enjoy paranormal barista mysteries, witchy misfires, and ghostly whodunits, you’ll love this clean, funny, and fur-filled adventure.
Start reading now and help solve a mystery with charm, chaos, and caffeine.
That's all for now. I hope your day is filled with books and coffee (or whatever you’ve got in your favorite mug). Happy reading!
Until next time,
Becky
