Weird Stuff from Amazon Is Just a Click Away
And don't miss the book I chose for January's reading challenge...
The first book in my 2025 reading challenge, a book with a winter setting, was proving a challenge to find.
Type “winter” in Amazon’s search bar and hit the enter key, and you’ll get a wide range of results. Some of them, like thermal socks and knitted outerwear, are to be expected. Another non-shocker was housewares like candles and beauty products with winter-centric scents.
Films like Winter’s Bone, Falcon, the Winter Soldier, and other movies with the word winter in the title are in those search results, along with books from children’s stories about the seasons to cozy mysteries set in winter to non-fiction books with advice for coping with the winter blues and others in so many genres of fiction.
But I didn’t expect to see some of these items. I’m including the links* so you can check them out for yourself.

2025 Reading Challenge - January
After all that searching, I finally found the perfect book. When I read the opening line, “It’s the first night of the new year” on the first morning of the new year, I knew I had found the perfect book.
Winter In Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand, takes place in a tropical climate during the winter, which makes it the best of both settings for me. The book is also available at no extra charge with a Kindle Unlimited subscription.
When I finished the first book, I binged the next two in the series, and I’ve read two more books since. I hope this pace continues through the rest of the year!
