The above picture is of my great-grandmother and me. As you can see, three-year-old me had awesome fashion sense. (I still have that fabulous cape in my hope chest and wish it came in grown-up sizes.) She passed away when I was in ninth grade, when she was well into her 80s, but dementia had taken hold years before her passing.
Although I had meaningful connections with other grandparents, I wish I could have known my great-grandmother better. I have a copy of her wedding photo. I’ve traced her branch of the family tree back to before the family emigrated from Germany on a ship called The Phoenix.
But I don’t know her.
This is why I love Letters from Gram, a subscription service from one of my dearest author friends, . For less than $10/mo, you’ll receive a monthly letter in the mail with sage advice, encouragement, and best of all—hope. Who couldn’t use this in today’s world with its bonkers level of current events?
Each envelope includes a letter and a gift from Gram—things like her favorite cookie recipe, lavender harvested from her garden, tea bags, or charms. Whether you called your grandmother Gram, Nana, Gammy, Memaw, Grandmama, Granny, Nonna, or something else, this letter will feel like it was written by her own hand.
I’ve been a fan of Misty’s books and candles for several years, and I know that the Letters from Gram will be the highest of quality I’ve come to associate with her name. I can’t wait to receive my first letter, and I hope you can sign up for them, too.
What Would Gram Say About This Publishing Snafu?
While THE CURSED COFFEE BEANS (see below) is with my editor, I dove into the revisions for PROTECTING PEYTON. The book is now set in South Carolina, which means the setting changed, more in some chapters than others. The book wasn’t set to release until November, and it was on pre-order for 99¢.
The good news is that the book is done six months early. You can get it for 99¢ and start reading today. The paperback is also available.
And it’s in Kindle Unlimited (KU), but only for one cycle, so add it to your KU library ASAP. The book will stay in your KU library until you remove it, so you can for at no extra charge with your membership, even if the book’s KU placement expires.
Even though I knew what would happen, I still cried at the end of this book when I read what happened to Peyton’s brother.
Healing Hawk will still release in November, as far as I know, but I’ve been laser-focused since finding my work/life/writing balance, and writing and releasing and re-releasing books faster than ever this year, so it might be earlier.
The Cursed Coffee Beans Releases on July 1st (For Real!)
Aunt Corliss might be Zip’s aunt, but she is a grandmotherly presence in the Magickal Beans series, and she always has great advice. Keep reading for details about THE CURSED COFFEE BEANS, which is the first book in this brand-new paranormal cozy mystery series!
Murder, magic, and muffins—bless your heart if you think this week’s gonna be normal.
Small towns have secrets. Mine brews them fresh daily. Welcome to Mockingbird Springs, home of my quirky little coffee shop, Magickal Beans. Running a small business was supposed to be a peaceful gig—serve lattes, sell baked goods, and avoid accidentally poisoning anyone. Simple enough.
Then a local land developer drops dead, and since he had his eye on my property, the blame lands squarely on me. Now I've drawn the attention of a detective who’s all side-eye and sharp cheekbones.
Oh, and let’s not forget my two chatty pets who think they’re helping solve a murder and my ex, who’s suddenly keen on rebuilding our friendship in hopes of a do-over. Because of course he is.
If I don’t clear my name, I could lose everything—my café, my reputation, and what’s left of my social life. Good thing I’ve got strong coffee, a stronger support system, and just enough weirdness to survive the most chaotic week of my life.
Pre-order so you can start reading the moment it releases on July 1st, or mark your calendars so you can read it at no extra charge with your Kindle Unlimited membership.
That's all for now. I hope your day is filled with books and coffee (or whatever you’ve got in your favorite mug). Happy reading!
Until next time,
Becky
