Something’s happening here…
If you’ve been subscribed to my newsletter, then you’ll notice this has a new look. It’s coming from a different place. Change can be scary, and I’ve experienced firsthand anxiety more than enough.
But this change is more exciting than terrifying. (Ask me how I know!)
1. What’s a Substack?
If a blog and a newsletter had a baby, it would be Substack. All of the weekly newsletters you usually get will remain free. I call them “weekly updates” now.
2. So, some things aren’t free?
Some exclusive content (like early looks at my works-in-progress and the ability to choose details about the characters and plots) will be for subscribers only. Otherwise, you’ll get weekly updates regardless of which plan you choose when subscribing.
3. Do I have to pay to stay?
Absolutely not! I follow so many free Substack accounts, both authors whose books I love and professionals who provide invaluable resources to authors. You can choose the plan that’s right for you and your budget, and you’ll still receive weekly updates.
4. Okay, how do I sign up for this?
When you click any of the “Subscribe now” buttons in the post, you’ll be taken to a page that looks something like the image above. Once you’re there, you can choose which subscription is right for you to continue receiving weekly updates.
5. Do I have to decide today?
You can wait, but I don’t recommend it. If you’re unsure about subscribing, choose the FREE option. (You know that’s my favorite price of all time, right? It’s what I paid for my new desk, which looks straight out of the office of a classic literature novelist.)
