November is here, and there’s only one thing on my mind—Thanksgiving dinner! Since moving to South Carolina four years ago, we’ve only had one traditional turkey dinner for Thanksgiving.
2020 - Visited a local relative for a ham and turkey dinner
2021 - Traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings at home
2022 - Steak, salad, twice-baked potatoes, and mac and cheese at home
2023 - Turkey breast with some of the fixing at home
Last year we scaled back because our kids returned to Virginia and West Virginia to visit their grandparents for Thanksgiving. I selfishly didn’t want them to go at the time, but I understood. After losing both my in-laws in the past nine months, now I’m glad they made that visit.
Will we go back to turkey dinner this year? I’d love it, but our oven is broken as a result of my trying to heat frozen lasagna for Father’s Day. It seems the oven heard rumors about my talent for setting water on fire and gave up the ghost.
We still have the stovetop, air fryer, Instapot, microwave, and charcoal grill. Here are our top 5 ideas for a non-turkey Thanksgiving dinner. Which one is your favorite?
What are you and yours having for dinner on Thanksgiving? Do you enjoy the traditional turkey with all the side dishes, or something else? I could honestly eat a bologna and cheese sandwiches as long as deviled eggs are on the menu.

I’ve added so many cozies to my Kindle that you’d think I still lived on the side of a mountain that could get 44” of snow in a single weekend. Lucky for me, these books make great beach reads now that I live in a much warmer climate.

That's all for now. I hope your day is filled with books and coffee (or whatever you’ve got in your favorite mug). Have a great weekend!

I don’t love turkey but I love the tradition and can’t imagine changing our routine. BUT if I did change I’d make apple onion pizza with a spinach salad
